Acupuncturists across New York and New
Jersey are
mobilizing to provide free stress relief ear acupuncture treatments to
survivors, first responders and volunteers who are helping in Sandy's
aftermath.
To receive treatment, you sit in a chair, fully-clothed, and are
treated by licensed and certified professionals. The treatments take
30-45 minutes, and people usually report feeling calmer and more
peaceful after a treatment. The night after receiving a treatment, most
people say they sleep exceptionally well. Acupuncture balances the
nervous system and can relieve stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia
and pain. You will barely feel the needles, and shortly after you are
treated, you will start to feel very relaxed - most people dose off
during a treatment.
These treatments are ideal for anyone who has been affected by the
storm. They will help you cope better as you pick up the pieces, and
they will help first responders and volunteers do their work better.
All of the clinics listed below are
independent
entities run by local acupuncture volunteers, and have no legal
affiliation with AWB.
Clinic
and
event information will be
posted as it
becomes available. Please check back often. You
do not need to call ahead to attend a free clinic.
