Volunteering with Acupuncturists Without Borders

Acupuncturists who are interested in volunteering need to meet specific criteria. Volunteers will treat people in a community acupuncture setting in conditions that can be physically and mentally demanding and unusual for those accustomed to a traditional clinical setting. We are currently accepting applications for those interested in the Veterans' Program or in engaging in future emergency field work with AWB. If you are interested in other volunteer positions please see our Volunteer Opportunities area.

Volunteers are now needed for AWB's Veterans' Program and for future work as AWB develops its progams.

(Note: Please click on volunteer application link below)
AWB volunteer application can be filled out online

Criteria

  • Licensed Acupuncturist - *note we also accept applications from individuals who are ADS certified or who may be interested in volunteering as support personnel.
  • Experience with community acupuncture and/or experience working in community health settings is preferable
  • Attendance of an AWB training is preferable, but not required.

  • For emergency field work: To drive you must have proof of current auto insurance. This will allow you to drive AWB-provided vans as part of your volunteer work.

Costs (related to emergency field work only)
  1. Volunteers pay for their round-trip airfare and other incidental expenses. If you need assistance with airfare specifically please contact us.
  2. Rooms are provided by AWB and can range from donated hotel rooms to "tent cities". AWB will provide for food as much as possible, but volunteers should come prepared to pay for a large portion of this expense. Transportation while in the field is generally provided by AWB.
  3. Note - please note that many volunteers have been able to raise money to cover expenses; we can help you with that process. Please contact us for assistance if you are interested in raising money for your work in the field.
