T.C.M. practitioners are trained to compose and deliver sophisticated herbal formulas that intersect traditional theory, modern medicine, and individual patients unique characteristics. While this represents many ideals, it can present many barriers to access and fulfillment of therapeutic treatment plans due to cost, availability, time spent in preparation, or familiarity.
Most individuals have access to and are familiar with a modest repertoire of culinary herbs for flavoring their food. This class aims to support the T.C.M. practitioner in having a thorough Materia medica of fresh and dried culinary herbs from around the world to be able to recommend to patients for use in common health conditions.
The class will emphasize development of the following:
- Materia medica of culinary herbs and commonly available teas including T.C.M. ‘energetics’
- Commonly available herbs used in T.C.M.
- Screening tools to understand what your patients have access to or be familiar with
- Recipes for common ailments that include culinary herbs
